Fusion Sector R&D

Fusion Sector R&D

For more than two decades, we have been involved in the design of various nuclear fusion reactors from massive extreme operational conditioned devices to high-tech precision systems all meant to be operating under harsh environment. Some of our long-term partnerships in this sector are formed with:

  • ENEA (National Authority for Alternative Energy),
  • ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor),
  • Fusion for Energy (F4E EURATOM agency for the management of the ITER Project in the EU)
  • IPP - W7X (Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics which is building the fusion reactor called the W7-X)
  • CNR (Italian National Research Council)
  • EUROfusion

We have been ensuring rigorous design and safe functionality of:

  • ITER (The greatest TOKAMAK in history)
  • IGNITOR (High Field Tokamak Machine)
  • W7-X (stellarator of Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik)
  • JET (European Tokamak Machine installed and operating at Oxford)
  • FTU (Frascati Tokamak Upgrade placed in ENEA Frascati)
  • DEMO (Evolution of ITER into an industry-driven programme)
  • DTT (Divertor Tokamak Test facility, is a fusion experiment under construction at the Frascati ENEA Research Center)
  • VNS (Volumetric Neutron Source  by EUROfusion)
  • STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production - UKAEA)
